Before turning it over to a private investigations firm, UW HR spoke with several people aware of the Foundation incident. They called the interaction "stunning" and "abusive" and suggested it was part of a pattern. "Laurie Nichols is a goddamn liar," one said.
The documents were obtained by us as part of a eight-month lawsuit. They also indicate that Nichols may not have been given an explanation or contacted, in direct violation of a UW policy that was given to investigators.
The documents, 105 pages in all, were obtained by us, @WyoFile, @WTEnews and @WY_Boomerang after we jointly filed suit in June. We won that lawsuit last month, and UW conceded the loss and sent a statement saying @AndrewGraham88 and my reporter from September was correct.
The documents, which include handwritten investigation notes, emails, invoices and contracts, validate months of reporting by Andrew and me.
In totality, we've reviewed more than 250 pages of documents obtained over the course of 10 months and roughly a half-dozen public records requests (and a lawsuit).
