I remember in the 80s and 90s all the people who basically equated liberals with communists with socialists with Marxists.

Honey, up here in an isolated rural area that's harder to get to than Seattle to Alaska, we've all admitted we HAVE to be socialists, or we can't survive. We NEED constant road repair, organized vaccinations, scholarships and food banks. "I'm not a socialist" is just privilege.
