Have been reading Sinclair Lewis, It Can’t Happen Here. Surreal how we as a country are stuck in this cycle.
Also, reading Hofstadter’s essays have been similarly surreal. The same cycles.
My first reaction: Damn, it's sad that we don't have more strong local papers like this left. In 2020, it's the NYT on top, WaPo holding on, and the LA Times and every other paper in the country picking up scraps or folding.
