And by white supremacy, I don't just mean people wearing white hoods. I mean the structure of thought that makes some people feel more outrage about the firing of a 60-something white guy than they do about the cold blooded murder of Breonna Taylor.

It's fine to be outraged about a NYTimes firing, btw. But if that makes you MORE concerned for the future of the country than the murder of Breonna Taylor, then take a sec to think about why you've been socialized to think like that.

And if the "totalitarian" face that comes to mind when you rail against the horrors of "cancel culture" is a face of someone who occupies the same racial & gender position as Breonna Taylor, ask yourself why you've being taught to be so terrified of strangers who look like that.

Finally, ask yourself how many black women were in the violent crowd that stormed the US Capitol on Jan 6 attempting to overturn the results of the recent election. Then reflect on how your perception of "profound existential threats to freedom" came to take its current form.

Finally, if your anger fixes on a handful of supposedly uber-powerful women & POC getting the "cosmopolitan elites" who control the nation's media & economy to oppress white ppl, you might reflect on how that was exactly how the John Birchers described the Civil Rights Movement.
