Perhaps this is self-evident, but the reason Trump gets so exceptionally hostile and defensive (even for him) when he's asked questions about testing is because he understands how essential it is and he also knows how badly his administration has f-ed it up.

That's giving himself way too much credit. He just hates people criticizing him.

I wonder what would happen if all the journalists kept asking about tests. Repeatedly. Would he leave? Argue? I don’t see it working for him in any way.

But does it fit in with the theory that it's been f-ed up on purpose? I'd expect a person to lie more smoothly in that event. But it would be in character for him to be so bad at lying even after all that practice.

I don't think it's been f-ed up on purpose. I think it's just the generalized incompetence of Trump and the people at the top of his administration.

Trump regime can be counted on to do two things well: 1. Crime 2. Incompetence. Yes, they're exceptionally reliable at being incompetent. Take it to the bank.

That, and he hates the the whole idea of some objective, scientific measurement of what's actually happening. His life is based on bullshitting. Objective facts are his enemy.

He doesn't care if the response is f-ed up. He's only responding to people questioning his authority. He only wants to hear what a good job he did - conditioning left over from Dear Daddy. Because if he f-ed up with Daddy, Daddy never let him hear the end of it.

He only understands the siren song of self-adoration softly crooning his mythical prowess and feats of superhuman ability that plays in an endless loop on Planet Donald. And frankly, it just angers him when the props let their attention wander.
