Proof of Reserves is a form of cryptographic truth that solves the solvency issues and related contagion/systemic risks the cryptocurrency industry is now experiencing. Its adoption will harden blockchain applications to be superior to traditional markets with the same issues.

4/ Proof of Reserves goes far beyond Web3 and can solve many of the systemic risk/contagion problems in global financial markets as well e.g. 2008's insolvency. Those problems aren't happening today, but the solution is the same, proving what is going on with Cryptographic Truth.

3/ The Web3 industry is having a moment of realization about the value of knowing this one piece of truth (assets/solvency) and they want it in a cryptographically guaranteed way, because of high standards for proof/truth. That's what Chainlink does; provides cryptographic truth.

2/ Chainlink's Proof of Reserve has been providing this critical information in a cryptographically guaranteed way for years. It is being used by multiple stable/gold coins and various other products that need to prove their solvency to users/depositors;

1/ Users/depositors knowing the risk and solvency of the exchange or financial institution they keep their funds with is a key piece of information that we should all have access to. Sharing this basic truth would avoid many problems in Web3, and in traditional financial markets.

It is clear that cryptographically proving the solvency of trading venues and financial institutions is becoming the new industry standard. Proof of Reserves is a great example of a cryptographically guaranteed financial world that starts in crypto going on to mainstream finance.
