We don't have AC in our homes and most are built with heavy cladding and insulation for the winter. Here in Japan, everywhere has AC and measures for dealing with heat. In the UK, it's the inescapability that really does your head in

I have fainted from heat exhaustion more than once in the UK and honestly looking back I think it was partly because I was like "25° is nothing, it's 200° where my friends live on Mars right now apparently" and like... shamed myself into not taking adequate precautions

So while I love to poke fun at Brits as much as the next guy, heateaves in the UK are actually dangerous and people do actually die and maybe telling them they're overreacting makes it harder to understand the very real risk to life
