Actually, its the other way around. It the taxpayers that subsidize the rich. When the average American pays more in taxes then Amazon, pay for the roads that Amazon trucks drive on for free, give massive tax breaks and subsidies.

This idea that more wealth should mean more taxes comes from the idea of taxation as a way to redistribute wealth, which is fundamentally flawed. The only purpose of taxation should be to fund those activities that the government can do better than private businesses.
