Women's equality isn't an add on. It's not something you do after lunch and it's not just a nice to have. Women's equality is good economic policy and that was recognised unanimously at the Jobs and Skills Summit.

Honoured to meet with President Ramos-Horta in Dili. I appreciated hearing his views on ways we can work together to support Timor-Leste's economic resilience. Timor-Leste is one of our closest neighbours, and our prosperity and security are inextricably linked.

Good talks today with the PNG National Rugby League Bid Board, including Chairman Wapu Sonk, on their ambition for a PNG team to enter the NRL. The potential for more PNG players in the NRL & a PNG NRL club is very exciting for someone like me who idolised Adrian Lam growing up.

In a battle on the Sanananda Track, Frank tried to save his friend from a dangerous position.   Frank was shot and killed. He was just 27 years old. He, and the many who rest alongside him, are a reminder of our profound ties with PNG and the acute human cost of conflict.

Australia will never forget the generous spirit of the Papuan and New Guinean soldiers and carriers that supported us 80 years ago.   I had a moment to reflect on our shared history as I visited Bomana War Cemetery today.   I was deeply moved by stories of service and sacrifice.

It was a pleasure to meet with Central Province Governor Rufina Peter and Rai Coast Open MP Kessy Sawang - the first women elected to PNG Parliament since 2017. We hope this marks a new chapter for women in politics in PNG. Their voices in parliament will be an asset for PNG.

Honoured to meet with Prime Minister James Marape during my first visit to Papua New Guinea as Foreign Minister. Australia’s relationship with PNG is profoundly important. As Whitlam said in 1975, it is a relationship of equals, based on mutual respect, understanding and trust.
