Assad’s violence is horrendous, & he must be held to account by the international community for the many thousands of his fellow Syrians he has murdered. But @POTUS is dangerously escalating the situation in #Syria by acting w/ no legal authority & no consistent, thoughtful plan.

Sporadic strikes aren’t in our national security interest & haven’t sent Assad running-they have emboldened him. We can’t afford endless war in the region. Military action won't solve the conflict in
#Syria; that will take diplomatic engagement in the region & w/ Assad’s allies.Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Why do we need to authorize war in Syria at all? Syria and its allies are more than capable of mopping up ISIS, a force which came into being only through arms shipped in by the U.S. We have no business putting troops in another country which hasn't asked for them

Trump's not waging war.he just slapped Assad in the mouth. How about we use chemical weapons we got the good stuff. Would the world like that. Duh
-
If we did, Assad would strike back with the chemical weapons we sold to him.
-
No ! Iraq gave to them. You know Saddam's two sons. Two semi's then came back to die. Oops I spilled the beans. Media will never mention

You’ll continue to push Congress? Tell us exactly how you have been doing that? You talk a big talk, but you NEVER walk the walk. Reminder: You work for us, for now, and we see through your lies. Enjoy the next 2 years. Tick tock, time is running out.

Clearly you feel Assad should be allowed to gas his own citizens, babies & toddlers included, while our passé & senile & uninformed Senate struts around endlessly debating what to do!!!!

The last time congress actually voted to declare war? It was shortly after Pearl Harbor. So he actually doesn’t need their approval, which needs to be changed quick.
-
When there is immediate threat to civilians, he has 60 days of combat, 30 days to withdrawal. If it takes longer, congress and senate have to vote to allow them to stay longer. Chemical weapons is a immediate threat. Obama and Clinton did this also.

So using chemical weapons to suffocate children is ok? Trump shouldn't tell Congress anything. Since the leaks have been constant. What Assad did was a act of war. The war started the moment those children gasped for air. Those buildings needed bombed.
