There should be a law that requires the hospital and the doctor to tell you in advance that they are 'out of network' and allow you to decline and demand an 'in network' physician.

One of the problems with going to the hospital is that many times, even though your hospital might be 'in network', you will probably be seen by a doctor that is 'out of network' and get billed at the higher rate. 1/2

We have hospitals here in Arizona that refuse to just accept what insurance pays and love to balance bill customers even after insurance has paid thousands of dollars. These hospitals want every last penny and never give up.
