Very disappointed we failed to pass immigration legislation this wk. This was a unique opportunity to protect #Dreamers & secure borders. It’s also disappointing that Dems would't consider our bill simply because the Pres. supported it. Immigration is hard, but we can't give up.

But you supported the bill with the *least* support in the senate. And didn’t the Dems not support the bill because they rejected some of the provisions? Blaming this on partisanship when trump has stoked partisanship the most is disingenuous.

I would love to see you hold our president accountable to his promise to sign whatever congress sent him. Pass what is right and good and just and demand that he keep his word to sign it.

This is not true, @SenatorLankford. The bill you signed on to was not supported because it slashed LEGAL immigration by 40-50% in the future, not because it had $25B for border security and POTUS supported it. Why say this?

Because of multiple private conversations I’ve had w/ my Dem colleagues. The Grassley bill had multiple provisions, including family migration reform, from the 1995 Immigration Commission (led by Democrat Rep. Jordan). Many of my colleagues support that Commission but, not POTUS.

Many of my colleagues were privately fine w/ family migration reform, especially because it would reduce the 4 million backlog. Wouldn’t see a reduction of legal immigration for a decade (which Congress could adjust). Appreciate your concern. Just want you to have the background.

Thank you. That is helpful @SenatorLankford. I hope we can get there and solve this for Dreamers. So needed. Please keep working to that end. For many, it wasn’t political opposition of Trump, it really was concern about the future of immigration and future cuts. Praying.

Thank you brothers. I covet your prayers. So many immigrant families are worried & waiting on Congress. Today was an extremely frustrating day. You’ve both dealt w/ church politics before. But politics in this town can be nonsensical sometimes. 😔

I'm also praying for you, as is our church. It's so important to get this done now.
