I taught one of your daughters. I attended Falls Creek under your leadership for six years. And I am gay. (Came out last year.) I'm glad I could one day get married in America. I should be able to buy a wedding cake. Your idea of "religious freedom" is code for bigotry.

Worst part is that the “ruling” was simply SCOTUS essentially overturning the defendent’s conviction because SCOTUS found they didn’t receive a fair trial. SCOTUS didn’t in any way, shape, or form make a broad ruling; in fact, it’s a noticeably narrow ruling.

The core of the Constitution is under attack by Trump & you can only find time to celebrate bigoted religious discrimination. Go read the Bible & see that Christ would never do what the baker did in this case. You're on the wrong side of history & also your faith.

Do you believe POTUS has the right to pardon himself? Do you believe the Special Counsel is unconstitutional? It is important to your constituents to know what you believe beyond your focus on “religions freedom”.
-
I'm having trouble understanding
@SenatorLankford position on most issues. Do not see that religious background shining through on any important issues.

The SCOTUS decision did not offer guidance on future cases. They decided very narrowly on the facts of this case. You’re overstating it’s importance.

Just another nail in your November coffin

Unfortunately Nov 2022 for James here. Hopefully others will be ejected this Nov.

We all know how you feel about this issue. You have no respect for any other religion but your own and you definitely do not respect the LGBTQ community.

Yeah. I completely disagree with your statement here, Senator. Not only does the SCOTUS decision NOT affirm your opinion, but someone's religious views should not be an excuse to discriminate against our fellow Americans.
-
Ummmm Wrong! SCOUTUS ruled for the baker. So your non- Constitutionally protected desire for a product should trump my Constitutionality protected right of Freedom of Religion? Not!
-
They didn’t rule “for” the baker. They ruled that the baker’s case was decided unfairly with clear evidence of an unfair application of the law by the district courts. Everyone has a right to a FAIR trial. He didn’t get one. They never said he was right.
-
Besides,
@tony_tharp, the two grooms weren't suing because they wanted a stupid cake. They were suing because of discrimination. We're all Americans. No one's religious views should be an excuse to discriminate against our fellow Americans.

Please turn your attention to reining in the President who has decided that he is king over America. Uphold our constitution!

It’s actually the legal right to discriminate and it’s a step backwards. That’s not freedom of religion.
-
It actually IS, exactly, Freedom of Religion. You cannot force a person to violate their faith. That is wrong.
-
Remember when people used religion to justify discrimination against POC? You actually can force people to violate their religion when their religion violates the constitution.
-
That was not about religion, and was changed. This case was about religion and SCOUTUS was clear about it. And no, you actually can't force someone to violate their faith. That IS in the Constitution and is called the 1st AMENDMENT!
-
The 1st amendment isn’t absolute. Your protected first amendment rights need to fall within the laws. For example: you can’t sacrifice children. There are lawful limits to religious practice.
-
Oh my goodness! We are not talking about sacrificing children! This was a cake! Get some perspective!
-
I’m merely pointing out that there are in fact limits to your freedom of religion. You aren’t allowed to use it to hurt others. Courts may decide this discrimination is legal, but it is certainly uncharitable and violates the teachings of Jesus as I understand them.
-
So let me get this straight. Are you saying that it's wrong for the baker to deny the couple the cake because it hurt them, but it is totally OK to sue the baker into oblivion and he possibly lose everything he has (which would hurt, right)? You can't have it both ways.
