This proposal—which would lower health insurance premiums by up to 40%—should have been included because the stakes are so high for millions of Americans whose insurance rates will skyrocket if Congress fails to act. (2/3)

The Omnibus is the last opportunity to prevent these rate increases from taking effect and to help stabilize the market. (3/3)

You have letters that promised this to you in exchange for tax cut bill. Your party played you and the America people. You should ditch the gop and become an independent.
-
Collins was the one doing the playing.
-
That’s why the coverage of her, as she said was sexist. People expected her to be less ruthless than Ryan because she is a woman. Nope. As calculating as the rest. Oh, she also is hugely silent about Trump, Russia etc.
-
The coverage or her colleagues are sexist? So, coverage said she was not ruthless? So, you mean she calculated this, to cave all along, that was her ruthlessness, pretending to be for the people and not herself/party? I'm confused. Yes, she's silent on Trump. GOP tribal member.
-
She said when asked about her going along with the tax cut on an assurance that it wouldn’t undermine her health care vote, that asking her that question was sexist. I do not see what she meant unless she was saying assuming she got played was sexist, because she knew all along.
-
Because assuming they were assuring in good faith with all she knew about their attempt to go out of regular order had already destroyed that assumption.
-
At this point in time, she should know how her party works. She should also know that women expect her to protect their healthcare. We can count on Dems to do that, not GOP. She knows what expansion of Hyde means.
-
Exactly. She should have known, and I think she did. So implying she was naive or getting played, provoked an off the cuff reaction from her that it was a sexist implication that she didn’t know.

You were duped Senator & you owe us Mainers an apology. We pleaded w/ you to protect ordinary Mainers. Instead you gave billions to corporations for the promise of these health care provisions. PS And when exactly will you begin to stand up to our corrupt/compromised POTUS?
-
She knew she was being duped. She was just playing.
-
And then when reporters said this, she accused them of being sexist. Is it now mea culpa? Nope. It's blame Nancy Pelosi (she's the one who wanted to protect Roe v Wade, not me).https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/19/susan-collins-gop-tax-bill-media-sexist-244784 …
-
That was her plan from the beginning that when her party betrayed her she'd blame the Dems and NP, what's ironic is it shows what an incompetent politician she is if she truly did not anticipate some sort of opposition from the other party, she was relying on it to give her cover
-
I think also the GOP's essential lies are being exposed. The truth about who they are, all they really care about, is coming out. Before, they got away with fakery because people were inattentive. Now, they hold the reins of power and so are lustily going for the gold, literally
-
Was thinking along the same lines as your thread but you are more detailed than I could be. Also, in Collins' case, much better to come from her constituents. Thank you for correcting her record. She did much harm.
@SenatorCollins -
Thank you for your kind words. She's only been on my radar because of that experience I had of calling up Ds to ask them not to vote for her, & thinking about that experience. I now sometimes ring her office bc I have family there, am from there, & recently lived there for 5 yrs
