Will your amendment ensure the
@GOP does not slam the door of educational attainment in the face non-wealthy graduate students & destroy scientific advancement?https://www.usnews.com/opinion/knowledge-bank/articles/2017-11-30/the-house-tax-bill-would-decimate-graduate-education … -
Do you not understand, Senator, that graduate students are vital to scientific progress, including biomedical advances? Do you know anyone with a serious illness, Senator? People holding on to hope for a breakthrough? You know you're killing at least some of them, right?
-
Students in Maine will remember this, Senator. And they will hold you to account. This is the day you end your career.https://bowdoinorient.com/2017/12/01/call-collins-on-tax-bill/ …

This doesn't stop this bill from being incredibly harmful to the majority of Americans, and undercutting not just our economy but our educational system and the opportunities available for future generations. Please rethink and vote no.
-
I hate stuff like this. "This terrible bill will have some small face-saving amendment that represents a 0.00000001% improvement on what otherwise is still a terrible bill."
-
Absolutely. I remain hung up on how badly this will affect graduate studies in the US (and by extension, undergraduate studies and eventually job opportunities). It is the opposite of making America great.
-
That provision makes no sense. Undoubtedly designed to fit bill within the reconciliation rules - must be some analysis that shows that taxing tuition-waivers will raise revenue. Where's that $$ going to come from though? Grad students aren't exactly flush with cash.
-
It makes my heart ache for future students who won't have the opportunity I did to pursue a dream even though I wasn't wealthy.

It will not help low income people, people with Cancer with no medical coverage or on Medicaid/Medicare, people who make under $75,000 a year. VOTE NO PLEASE!
-
Yet 82 mil Americans will pay higher txs, kick off Medicaid/Medicare. History proves
@GOP move, like 1926, will precipitate a crash followed by a depression. God have mercy on ur soul bc, 4 except of 1%, 99% Americans will suffer same fate of Great Depression.

Senator Collins, everything I’ve read about this bill says it’s bad for the middle class and good for the rich. I’ve yet to hear a good explanation for why this bill should be passed. Do you have one?
-
p.s. Why are any major bills being passed when there is the very real possibility that the current administration colluded with a foreign power to win the past election?

You sold us out, Senator. This will not be forgotten. Passing this wretched bill is the end of the GOP in America. Put that in your stupid bill!
-
@tedcruz@JohnCornyn STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH SENATOR!! GOP wants to stimulate the economy? THEN GIVE ME A TAX BREAK I CAN SEE!!! Tired of paying taxes for the greedy rich CEOs & SOBs who think they’re too special to pay taxes! SUCK IT UP! PAY YOUR OWN WAY!!! -
It's an oligarchy. I'm sick of carrying the rest of the country because CA is the 5th largest economy even with the scary immigrants. Red weak states became our problem & all you hear is elites. What's elite about it? Being forward thinking?
-
Boy ar5e you lost. Enjoy Mexifornia hag.
-
Now go breadcrumb hunting so Q can get ya in the front, Trump can get ya in the rear & FOX propoganda can further lobotomize you. U can't learn that Mexican immigration is at net zero for yrs. You best self-deport. Your hostility & stupidity are too costly for real Americans.
