Civility also means voting to keep families together rather than ripping them apart at gunpoint and to provide health care to people too sick and poor to afford it. When will you start voting with civility?

History will not be kind to any GOP Senators or Congressman who allowed Trump’s unprecedented attack on the rule of law to go completely unchecked.

Then, Senator Collins, why do you not demand some civility from Trump? Who is holding him accountable for his abhorrent tweets and actions? Do we not deserve better? It’s not about freedom of speech...it’s about civility.

I think Obama has also done an extraordinary job of not hitting back at Trump despite hundreds of Trump hate tweets directed at him. At least Obama has class and dignity.

You are right Mr. Britt. Each of these Presidents (until now) regardless of party has good manners. Not many rude comments coming from any of them. Usually very inspiring and uplifting words. Can’t imagine Bush or Clinton having daily tweets about controversy.

Your silence on the blatant lies, abuses of power, abuses of people and contempt for Americans is complicity. Is that the legacy you want? It is in your power to respond through action and words instead of pretending that everything is ok. It's not. We are hurting.

That might be what I would say as well, Senator Collins, if I was complicit in a mass child hostage-taking policy in order to ransom their lives for a border wall Donald Trump swore up and down Mexico was going to pay for.

civility is easy when you're working from a place of privilege. I'd like to see a lot more principled action, and a lot less blather about civility from those in power right now. The people suffering & those defending them can be forgiven for their frustration.
