Hairdressers have to pass state boards and hold licenses. As do teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, and people working in food service and prep. They can all be sued individually. Seems like it's not a big ask that law enforcement have equal training, liability, and oversight.

Law enforcement is state certified, has continuous training requirements, and can be sued if they act illegally or out of policy. Qualified immunity only protects lawful conduct and protects against frivolous lawsuits.

Did you read it yourself? I have heard criticism that it does almost nothing. The only thing that would have done anything would have been Harrison’s addition of the anti-lynching bill.

There isn’t middle ground on police brutality. It must stop. Qualified immunity must go. If I can sue a teacher or doctor individually, cops can’t be any different.

I’m not a police officer but when you compare business liability with police officer liability. You don’t understand the risks/criticism/liability of being a police officer. If this passes, no one will ever be a police officer because of the level of risk physically/financially!
