To be authorized, Trump had to show why an attack was imminent & that killing Soleimani would stop it. If S was in the planning stages, the threat was not imminent. If it *was* imminent, unless S himself was wearing a suicide vest, killing him wouldn't have stopped the attack.

That Soleimani deserved what he got is not the question and you know it. It was how Trump recklessly and irresponsibly went about it that's the actual problem here.
