I really don't understand why we can't move to a license to purchase. You get a background check, you get a license to purchase that's good for however many years. All sales, including private, would require a license to purchase.

People will chime in with "shall not be infringed" in all caps, I'm sure. But, I have a right to vote. I still have to register, which is in effect getting a license to vote. My license to vote is subject to revocation if I do prohibited things, like commit a felony.
