As #AAPIHM comes to a close, I'd like to highlight the stories of two extraordinary Coloradans and the contributions that they have made to our state — Robert “Bob” Sakata Sr. and Khanh Do. Thread👇

Bob Sakata Sr. was detained in a Japanese American internment camp during WWII— a shameful part of our history. He went on to build his farm in Brighton— Sakata Farms— into one of the largest in Colorado. I'm so grateful for his contributions to our state's agriculture industry.

Khanh Do owns Little Saigon Supermarket in Denver. There, visitors can experience Vietnamese-American culture — everything from food to music to art. Be sure to stop by! I thank Khanh and his family for bringing this vibrant scene to Denver.

Colorado is better for the contributions of people like Bob, Khanh, and their families. Even though #AAPIHM is almost over, we must continue to celebrate the history and culture of the AAPI community while standing up to prejudice and hate in all of its forms.
