My proposal would reform #SNAP to expand its benefits and eligibility quickly and automatically during economic downturns – including the one we're currently in – so we can support those most in need.

It would also permanently modernize #SNAP by ensuring all states use broad-based categorical eligibility so that households that qualify for other low-income assistance programs don't have to fill out burdensome paperwork to get the assistance they need.

My proposals to expand SNAP, strengthen unemployment insurance, and help Americans weather the economic fallout of #COVID19 with direct cash payments all have the ability to act as automatic stabilizers when the economy deteriorates.

If these proposals were in effect today, millions of Americans who are struggling as a result of this crisis would have increased benefits and support. I'll keep pushing these proposals to bring much-needed relief to American families in the next economic support package.
