3 yrs ago, my husband was diagnosed w stage 4c Head/Neck cancer. His soft palate was quickly disintegrating. In order to begin chemo/radiation, he needed extensive oral surgery first. Insurance declined: deemed “Cosmetic.” Treatment delayed.
After treatment began, his soft palate completely disappeared, leaving him unable to eat, drink, sneeze & talk. A reconstructive oral surgeon told us that his chances of having successful post-treatment surgery was minimal, no insurance would cover it; go to a dental college &

Compassionate Drs & nurses go to 3rd world countries to provide surgery for those with congenital issues. Why is US govt not compassionate enough to have such programs here ?
