How sad that you haven’t taken time to meet some of your constituents that are suffering and dying due to under treatment or no treatment for chronic/intractable pain.
Chronic pain patients are suffering. Deaths you cite are mostly street drugs such as heroin & illegally obtained. Imagine dislocating ribs & hips as you sleep- unimaginable pain. Compassion, not barriers. Fact-As Rx have decreased, deaths have increased. @ciaagofficial

1/3 of Americans suffer from #ChronicPain, a quarter of them have pain resistant to non-Opioid therapies. These are veterans, the elderly, the disabled, cancer patients & you want to go demand the FDA torture them? A dozen people from these populations commit suicide daily. Stop.
Addiction is NOT a risk for everyone. It is THIS truth being buried.
Millions were being treated, not risking others, just trying to function with painful conditions.

You are 1 illness or accident away from being a chronic pain patient yourself. Hope it happens sooner rather than later! Why don't you talk to pain pts instead of asking for a govmnt sponsored study. You might learn something that having your head up your butts couldn't hear!
