Rosie shared with me that by having a safe space to live, she now understands the connection between housing and health. Rosie was able to join a running club through the shelter, & she’s lost 200+ pounds and says she’s never felt better. She loves the staff at Higher Ground too.pic.twitter.com/mN8Nj2npIi
And then there’s Jamie who I met at Higher Ground. Through having stable housing, she’s been able to complete a culinary arts program. And after that, she went on to get a community health worker certification. Next up? She told me she wants to become a licensed practical nurse.pic.twitter.com/B1UHage2Hv
Warren was homeless for about 5 yrs before coming to the shelter. He’s now a volunteer in the kitchen at Higher Ground & also recruits for the running club that has changed Rosie’s life. Rose, Jamie, & Warren are living proof of what happens when we invest in affordable housing.pic.twitter.com/ICeB3bOFQG
And Rosie, Jamie, and Warren are something else—they’re Minnesotans I’m proud to represent.pic.twitter.com/8stygZVwVp
