#Broadband isn’t just a nice thing to have—it’s a necessary thing to have. That’s what I heard yesterday while talking with local leaders in Grand Rapids, and what I believe, too.pic.twitter.com/yqOmjGJQMm

And while we’ve made progress in expanding access to #broadband, too many Minnesotans—especially in rural, tribal, and low income communities— still lack access to affordable and reliable internet.
In partnership with communities and broadband providers, we can make progress for Minnesota. If we don’t, hundreds of thousands of Minnesota households will continue to lack basic access to high-speed internet. We can, and must, do better than that.
I fought to include real investments in the recent government funding bill, and I’m glad that we were able to secure a new $624 million investment to expedite rural broadband expansion. But that's not enough.
That’s why I will soon introduce a bill to authorize the successful Community Connect program through USDA. This program provides grants for areas where it is not economically viable to provide service.
