I learned about the impact of low commodity prices on dairy famers—something that’s taken a financial and emotional toll on far too many farming families in MN—and learned about the farm’s bio-digester, which supplies renewable energy to the farm and 50+ local households.

Going into the
#FarmBill debate, I’m going to fight for strong safety net programs that support farmers facing slumping commodity prices, and for an energy section that will help farmers deploy more renewable energy.Show this thread

Unfortunately demand is going away from dairy yet the Govt continues to bail then out to the tune of billions of dollars. As a business Why shouldn’t they be required to adjust to the changing market?

Let's let the farmers set their own prices like most other buisnesses and they would not need government help. But that would mean people would have to pay for what it actually costs to produce food.

Seems like that’s the case in the vegan realm: lobby just stood up in the last few years, no subsides offered, prices through the roof to consume those products.

Not sure what the answer is. Without the farm bill and the funds to support the growers so food prices are affordable we would have many people unable to afford food. Sadly the amount going to our small farms does not cover the cost if production.
