Now President Trump and his nominee to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (@CFPB) are faced with a choice: are they going to side with the 143 million people whose data was compromised, or the giant financial institution that kept the hack from the American public?

I believe Wall Street banks & big financial institutions should be held accountable when their actions harm Minnesotans & break the public’s trust. Restricting the probe into Equifax would send a signal that the CFPB is no longer focused on its core mission: protecting consumers.

I’m going to fight to make sure there is a strong, independent watchdog for consumers at CFPB. We can’t allow the agency created to protect consumers to become a crony of the very financial institutions that routinely take advantage of the American public. https://www.facebook.com/USSenTinaSmith/posts/593952060951225 …
