I had great teachers in Brooklyn's public schools, and they were the fabric of our community. But for the past twenty years teachers’ pay has been falling behind, making it harder for teachers to stay in the middle class. That's not right; we know teachers deserve #ABetterDeal.

Why not? In the birdbrain's of democrats it's the Federal Government's job to fix every problem, and the fix is always more spending and higher taxes. Here's an idea: Stop supporting illegals and use the money for teachers.

Don’t just talk about it!!!

What are they supposed to do? They are in the minority in both houses of congress. They don't even get a say in who chairs the committees that oversee these issues. We have to put them in the majority to even have a chance.

I love this plan. Simply funding IDEA, would put money back into our schools. It would benefit all students and provide more opportunities to those with special needs. This is the type of idea that makes America great.

I know!!! Our special needs facilities in this country are appalling

More spending, more spending, more spending. What about cleaning up inefficiencies, incentives for money-saving ideas, reducing administrative burdens, & firing ineffective admins and teachers? Always your answer is more money (paid for by someone else).
-
keynesian economics work... it's been proven. Which is the exact reason why fiscal conservativism does not work
-
You completely missed my point. But thanks for your comment, socialist.
-
The largest inefficiency in schools is that they are underfunded. You couldn't find a significant sum of money in the school system if you tried.
-
I'm very interested in this topic. Do you have data? I've watched programs like music, arts, dance, shop class, etc, cancelled, yet teachers seem underpaid. Public school parents hold fundraisers, teachers buy school supplies. Where does the money go?
-
This is exactly the problem, first, you seem to be forgetting about inner city schools which are just being suffocated with even more programs being cut because the parents can't buy supplies and do fundraising...
-
But the trend is that education is the first thing to go, so they cut education funding to lower taxes and leave students and teachers by the way side. This is evident with the teacher strikes coming from conservative states.
-
I'm asking a reasonable question, which you are ignoring. You are just more interested in repeating yourself. Even your profile says you use stats......I'm listening.

If we've learned anything over the past 16 months, it’s that we need to be better educated.

Include the amount of money they have to spend on their education. Compare to other professions, with the same number of years in college.

It's about time we focus on teachers. We have gotten kicked 2 the curb while making great sacrifices for ed. It's been a thankless job.

You mean, give more money to the Unions and get payback to the DNC and both of you, right? Again, People Remember, DEMS have two opinions the Public one, which is rosy, and the Private one, which is evil, bad, and COSTLY....
