That is a good first step but we have a lot of work to do to ensure the CDC initiates this extremely important research in the near future. I hope that the CDC will use some of their newly increased resources from the omnibus spending package to get this done.

Hear that,
@NRA? Blood money will be called out and legislators will be avoiding you, instead if their constituents. You will need more Russian illehal funding, eh? -
Your tweet is full of emotion but you clearly do not understand the problem of violence in America. Blaming the NRA demonstrates that lack of understanding. How about you research some of the good things the NRA does for this country, young people in particular.
-
If you dont understand the hand NRA has played in the mass gun violence America experiences, take a seat. Would LOVE to hear all about how it helps the youth--other than funding their murder in schools that is

What prohibition? They did a study on guns while Obama was President.
-
It's called the Dickey Amendment. It barred the CDC from doing research to “advocate or promote gun control.” Passed in 1996, it also stripped the CDC of the $2.6 million in funding it had set aside that year for gun-violence research. Educate yourself
-
So, you're then saying that they illegally conducted the research?
-
Did it bar them doing it or from using Fed. money to do it because they did it, bar or not. Being barred from using Fed. funds is not a bar. From what I understand, they had private funds. Either way, it was done, so the so called bar is irrelevant.
-
The CDC was prohibited from doing research to “advocate or promote gun control" and stripped funding, effectively stopping all research into gun violence until Obama authorized research that did not technically violate that definition. Congress refused to fund it.
-
Again, just because Fed. money was refused doesn't mean it's banned. There are other ways to pay for things.
