[THREAD] Without #NetNeutrality
when you’re trying to stream the @Yankees game on your phone and you miss every other pitch, who will be to blame?

How about when it takes a college student 2 hours to watch a 50 minute video for class? If the GOP doesn't listen to their constituents & join our now bipartisan CRA, then we can't

This is the worst argument for net neutrality ever made. Please leave this one to people who understand the issue, Chuck.
-
What's your version of the best argument?

I don't feel up to writing a Twitter thesis right now, but here's a good article on the importance of openness to the development of the internet: https://www.wired.com/story/how-the-fccs-net-neutrality-plan-breaks-with-50-years-of-history/amp … And one on how the FCC rule changes will undermine the culture of innovation online:https://www.wired.com/story/how-the-fccs-net-neutrality-plan-breaks-with-50-years-of-history/amp …
-
Excellent, thanks. So my gist: without net neutrality we will rely on the judgment and uncompetitive biases of a handful of "pipe" companies to continue to drive innovative internet services of the future. So quite possibly we miss future breakthroughs like Skype, Netflix, etc.
-
The companies you mentioned were all innovated prior to the 2015 implementation of net neutrality. The entire internet was innovated before net neutrality. Seemed to work ok, no?
-
Net neutrality was not "implemented" in 2015 or any other year. It is the way the network was designed from the beginning. The 2015 decision to regulate as a public utility was taken to *preserve* net neutrality, as ISPs began to break it. Again, see:https://www.wired.com/story/how-the-fccs-net-neutrality-plan-breaks-with-50-years-of-history/amp …
