The Maduro government has waged a violent crackdown on Venezuelan civil society, violated the constitution by dissolving the National Assembly and was re-elected last year in an election many observers said was fraudulent. The economy is a disaster and millions are migrating. 1/3

So basically Maduro bad but coup is worse? It'd be nice if you could unequivocally condemn the coup and leave the handwringing over Maduro out of it.
-
But the situation is that nuanced. Maduro is a dictator but that doesn't mean it's our business to instill our own leader.

You didn't speak about the crippling sanctions we have used to oppress the Venezuelan people. Those need to stop!
-
The sanctions do not opress the Venezuelan people. The sanctions are against individuals in the government who have stolen money from Venezuela and violated human rights. I'm Venezuelan. Hunger in my country is exclusively Chávez's and Maduro's fault.

Yes!!!! Exactly!!! But, they do have oil, so I expect we'll dive right in and make sure we can control their oil fields, like Iraq.

Actually Chile, Guatemala, Brazil and DR are not doing too bad nowadays..
-
As someone from the Dominican Republic (DR), I can say that the US invasion only made our progress significantly slower. We are still suffering from it. Countries need to have their own political processes respected, even popular insurrections tho (like the one happening now)
