@GovRicketts has done a great job with the Covid-19 crisis in Nebraska but there is STILL an area that badly needs attention.
Nebraska jails are overcrowded. We are currently at 155% capacity. With a virus so contagious, this is a powder keg waiting to explode.
We should immediately move to form a task force from ALL 3 branches of government. We needed to come up with a comprehensive plan for criminal justice BEFORE but we really need one now. The number above shows the average of all facilities. I wrote OP-ed that ran in LJS today about my 1st hand knowledge from inside the walls about the potential clash of these two crises and the loss of life that could come with it.
