The opportunity to REFORM this system is something that should UNIFY Republicans and Democrats. I have introduced a bill to do just this. It gives judges the opportunity to reduce sentences for those deserving a second look.

At a time when all Nebraskans are concerned about property taxes, we SHOULDN’T be spending $241 million on a new prison. We should first examine sentencing reform, drug rehabilitation programs, job skill training and, of course, mental health programs.
