When MA passed their assault weapons ban in the 1990s, they were the only state in the nation whose murder rate rose. #MissionAccomplished
The murder rate went down after Reagan banned assault weapons in the 80's! Removing lead from gasoline could also be a factor. The binary thinking never proves anything. I'm in favor of assault weapons ban just bc it's a good idea! #gunsense

Having to ask the government for permission, submit to medical tests, and then be required give the local police access to my house at their discretion to exercise even the simplest aspect of an enumerated right doesn't sound like a particularly good idea.
Yes! The Massachusetts model has been enormously successful. It respects 2A rights but has minimized the sort of tragedy so often experienced in other states. It has also helped raise gun-safety awareness across the Commonwealth. Win-win-win.
