Pompeo has suggested homosexuality is a “perversion.” At the CIA, he cancelled a Pride Month event that featured an appearance by the parents of a young man beaten, tortured, and left to die on account of his sexual orientation. He cannot credibly represent LGBTQ Americans.
Pompeo has said that he might bring back waterboarding. A man who has said those who have carried out such actions were “not torturers, they are patriots” won't be able to credibly convey to gov'ts with histories of human rights abuses that these actions are reprehensible.
