When other businesses are harmfully negligent, they can be held legally responsible. When it’s the gun industry, there are no consequences because the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act broadly shields them from liability. Bars can be liable for accidents when they negligently sell alcohol to people they have reason to think will drive drunk. But under PLCAA, gun makers and dealers can escape accountability for similarly negligent conduct. The gun industry does not deserve special privileges.

Gun dealers who turn a blind eye to middle-men buying hundreds of weapons to sell on the streets use PLCAA to avoid legal liability. No one should be able to profit from gun deaths. Repeal PLCAA now.
