Parents should know what videos appear on the websites their kids view. The #KIDSAct will create transparency by establishing an annual audit of content being served to kids and creating a labeling system so parents can know if they are being exposed to harmful material.pic.twitter.com/ho5jH5TdXU

No. This is a terrible idea. It will only backfire and create huge problems for censorship and first amendment restrictions. Parents are responsible for what their children view, full stop. If they want to know what's on the website, they should go on it themselves.

I say this as a mother whose children use the internet. I can't protect them forever, and I do my best right now, but sometimes they see things that I would otherwise object to, and I have to have a conversation with them about what it is and why I object to it.

More difficult than slapping an age rating on Movies, but I do applaud the effort for some sensible analysis and warnings.

This could be great! But it could also go badly. So far, most efforts to mark “explicit” content have filtered out *any* discussion of LGBTQ+ people. Don’t forget the harm done when a queer child seeks information about themselves and is told that their identity is pronographic.

Or maybe parents should be active and know what their kids are doing online.
