A very brave young man. I hope he gets to the point where he can understand why he's got PTSD with depression. With meditation, counseling and prayer he'll get to know himself better.

@JasonKander I'm not a therapist- I've had PTSD for 27 years, but don't have depression. You refer to it as a "mental health" issue - try exploring with your counselor that trauma creates changes in the cells of the brain, that it can be physical changes that occur in the brain. -
As I said, I am not a therapist, and it is only a suggestion. Most therapists, I think, approach PTSD as "emotional" - it can be, everyone is different, but I believe there is a physical change in the brain that doesn't always get addressed. Good luck.
