We see the childcare shortage play out in Madison and it’s even more prevalent in rural communities where families have far fewer options. Fewer childcare slots mean fewer workers able to rejoin the workforce.

Mental and behavioral health is as much a health issue as it is an economic one—it affects our kids in the classroom, whether workers can join and stay in our workforce, and folks' ability to provide for their family.
That's why I'm declaring 2023 the Year of Mental Health.

The wealth of the top 1% increased by $6.5 trillion in 2021, but the pandemic hasn't been as great for millions of Wisconsin families.
With inflation eating away at paychecks and families tightening their belts, the last thing we need is a massive tax cut for the mega rich.
Quote Tweet
When we deliver tax relief, it should be targeted to the middle class to give working families a little breathing room—not to give big breaks to millionaires and billionaires who don't need the extra help to afford rising costs.
That's just common sense.

If we want equal opportunity, regardless of race, class, geography, we must invest in kids & public education.
Consider marking the day by reading Dr. King’s 1966 essay, taking stock of our progress/struggle. It's remarkably relevant.

No surprise that priority #1 for Republicans in congress is to defund the tax police. Their party is led by a wealthy tax cheat. Great for billionaires who want to buy politicians, terrible for the rest of us and our democracy.
