I'm sorry but I think she's qualified for the job... actually over qualified... and she will be the first female in history to head this agency... I don't support torture.. period!

Ms. Haspel could not say she personally thought torture was immoral. Kamala asked her 3x in 3 different ways and all she did was spew the CIA rules. It was a yes or no question that wasn't answered.
-
Exactly. If you do not support torture, by any means, that belief is questionable if you're willing to support a person who has previously supported torture and refuses to currently condemn it as immoral.
-
I do not support killing people either...but I support a womens right to choose... I was in the USArmy 16S... But in war you take a life...all I'm saying is she's qualified.. she may not agree with torture now.... don't judge a person because of circumstances of our past!
-
She couldn't say she was against it now. That's. An important thing for a person who will be likely to face that choice to address.
-
She did say she agreed that it is illegal now... and she would follow the law.
-
But she was asked if it's immoral. The law was previously bent. If she finds it immoral now, it's an indicator that she may avoid it in the future. Inability to say it's immoral hints to "I'll follow the law, and bend it as I need, but I'll follow it"
-
How do you answer a question that has so many ramifications to current and former personnel... I am so sorry.. failure to answer..was appropriate.. I am against torture and Trump's America and administration..

Imagine that, a no vote. Too bad there is no betting line in Vegas on how you’ll vote.

Could be. She uses her questions to frame the nominee in a negative light. She’s done it many times. I believe she had made her decision well before today, just like everyone else there. Well qualified, woman, and it’s no?

She’s a party line identity politics leftist. IMO
-
Oh yeah she did. But her so-called CIA buddy he did the same thing and it's okay. but he got nominated. hypocrisy of this woman. She needs to be voted out.

Kamala cloned her political ladder by being Jerry Brown's arm candy. Gina Haspel risked her life, family and put in her time. Something kamala couldn't possible understand. The most dangerous place kamala has ever navigated was a super market on her own. Haspel kept us safe.
-
I so agree. Some these naysayers are incredibly naive
-
Naïveté and lack of nuance defines our state of political thinking in America. When bad thing happen again, and they will, we’re going to wish we had a Gina Haspel at the CIA helm.
-
Torture puts American service men's lives in danger. Do you know that a tortured person will admit to anything to stop the pain? even admit to crimes they have never committed or have knowledge of which makes their confession in some cases counter productive & dangerous.
-
I don’t disagree. But we desperately want to place labels, torture = bad, must vote against, and we miss that these are deeply nuanced issues that require better than typical black and white partisan thinking.
