Thank you!! What is point of singing “America the Beautiful” if we destroy the beauty of this great land for short term profit.

“wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life.” (John Muir) We must preserve the wilderness.
-
“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike.” (John Muir) Destruction of national parks destroys our heritage, our future, our health, our spiritual well being.
-
“Compared with the intense purity and cordiality and beauty of Nature, the most delicate refinements and cultures of civilization are gross barbarisms.” (John Muir)
-
“In God's wildness lies the hope of the world - the great fresh unblighted, unredeemed wilderness. The galling harness of civilization drops off, and wounds heal ere we are aware.” (John Muir)
-
“Man must be made conscious of his origin as a child of Nature. .. he would see that he was not a separate entity endowed with a divine right to subdue his fellow creatures and destroy the common heritage, but rather an integral part of a harmonious whole.” (John Muir)

America has never seen such a devastating assault on our treasured public lands. Grand Staircase-Escalante was reduced by nearly half and Bears Ears was cut by an outrageous 85%, removing over 2,000,000 total acres of protected land: http://on.nrdc.org/2EZaLLz

Thanks for this
@SenKamalaHarris! Same goes for drilling in the Arctic and offshore, for killing grizzly bears as well as killing wolf and bear mothers and cubs in their dens. The latter will upset the balance of nature and is stupid, as well as terribly cruel. -
Omg. You’re so right It’s beyond shameful. Imagine...passing a law allowing hunters to kill bears while they hibernate. What is wrong with some people.

Everything. These acts drive me to tears, then to
#resist. We are losing so much. We must boot them out in November. But with so much to undo, I just keep hoping we'll be able to reverse the disastrous course#trump and this#GOP are forcing America to follow.

I was just up at Bears Ears. It is sacred and magical. The thought that Trump and Zinke will violate this land for oil and gas special interests is sickening. GOP watch out. Your constituents here in Utah are very angry about it.

The wealth of the public lands belongs to all Americans-not just a few corrupt billionaires living from public welfare.

The land belongs to the Stare not federal gov
-
The land never belonged to the state. It is federal land and the monuments have been designated and protected for the American people, cultural value, heritage and beauty.
-
The land was, of course, once owned by States. These land grabs are out of control. Did you know that Feds own 84 percent of Nevada. Slippery slope that can’t be ignored
-
"Land grabs"? Oooooof.
-
Is that a response
-
No Terry. Who has been telling you this? The land that is now the State of Utah was stolen from various Native American Nations, then transferred by treaty from Mexico to the United States Federal Government, representing the citizens of all our states and territories. /1
-
The colonists in the area that became Utah were a territory, they were never a separate sovereign state. When the people in the territory became the state of Utah, the unclaimed lands were divided up, some private, some state, and some remained federal. /2 of 3
-
If anyone has prior claim, it is not the politicians of the state of Utah, but the sovereign tribes, the Utes, the Navsjo, the Hopi, the Zuni. All of whom requested the full size monument. /3 end
