No state generates as much solar power as California, or has as many people whose jobs depend on it. This is an attack on California.https://twitter.com/BuzzFeedNews/status/955829981057175552 …

Going solar is about to become a lot more expensive: Trump announced a 30% tariff on foreign-made solar panels. And according to one estimate, the decision could result in a loss of 23,000 current and future jobs in the US. https://www.buzzfeed.com/zahrahirji/trump-solar-tariffs?utm_term=4ldqpgc&bftwnews#4ldqpgc …

Sounds like a perfect time to start making solar panels in California. Would be a boost to the economy with more jobs.

This sets the U.S. further behind the rest of the world. @realDonaldTrump has neither the mental capacity nor the desire to make progressive decisions. He has already taken us down in world standing at a time we were flourishing. But that was Putin's goal. Tired of winning yet??

People like you set the US behind the rest of the world. The panels made in the US last longer (fewer natural resources & emissions used because less replacement panels needed)! Plus the tariff will not kick in for about 18yrs. 1st 22K GW are tariff free. We build 120 GW a yr

We have to import the cells, we don't hold the patent. China holds that patent. So we will be paying the 30% on the parts needed to be put together in this country. Still a huge loss for the solar industry, 10's of thousands of jobs lost in solar instillation.

California is a big diverse state with tons of resources. We can beat these attacks and do even better by creating more solar and other clean energy jobs. We can find a way to build solar panels for less and make them here.

No company in the USA has a patent on solar cells. We can't build them only assemble and still pay the 30% tariff on the parts coming into the country.

Do you ever do research to know what your talking about? The solar panels already installed are not affected. And the tariff allowed the first 22,000GW of panels tariff free. The largest solar farm in CA is 550 MW. The entire state has 19GW of solar power installed in 10 yrs

How is putting a tariff of anything in excess of 22,000GW of panels an attack on CA? It makes the American made panels competitive in pricing & the American panels last longer which gives companies a better return on investment & less down time. Really, Kammie, get a clue!

Why do you mislead people? Some panels are assembled here in the US but since no US company hold a patent on solar cells there would still be a 30% tariff on the imported parts needed for assembly.

It will kill the industry which is what trump really wants to do. He wants to keep us defendant on oil and gas thus helping his cronies and himself. This also helps Russia. I was almost convinced there Kim in what you were saying but decided to research for myself. 2/

As a solar company, we are devastated to learn Trump has imposed a 30% tariff on solar panels virtually killing the solar industry. Solar employs more people than coal and oil combined. today's decision will cause the loss of roughly 23,000 American jobs this year.
