If you and the Dems would get out of the way, the free market would fix the cost of healthcare just like it did car insurance and everything else we buy. Companies aren't the government. They can't charge more than people will pay or they will go out of business.

Life or death care is NOT, and will NEVER BE, a free market discretionary purchase! When the doctor says "your child has cancer," you cannot "shop around" for cheapest chemo. You can't say "maybe Santa will bring you one." You can't OPT not to purchase anything.
#NotAChoiceCare -
When your child has Type 1 diabetes, you can't just "save up until you have enough" for some insulin. Or until it goes on sale. Or when there's double coupons. Medical CARE is not a toy people can go without. Young people die from curable diseases because of that failed logic!

We're talking about health insurance being affordable. The way used to be before the government stepped in or should I say Obamacare stepped in.
-
The government stepping in to provide high risk coverage under Medicare removes the EXCUSE for inflated rates for all of us. It gives private insurance the flexibility to offer supplemental coverage at decent prices. It works in Germany and saves employers money.
-
Didn't England or Germany just have the problem of only dealing with Emergency Services for like a month because of lack of funds?
-
England has different system and right wing attacks of underfunding by one Party. Germany has a strong, sensible 2 tier system of private/public insurance.
-
We have public insurance. Medicaid. The problem is is if you can't spit out a child or not disabled you can't receive it. I would accept serious pre-existing conditions to be placed under Medicaid.

Let the record reflect that Kamala Harris was the FIRST Democratic Senator to step out there and cosponsor Bernie’s
#MC4A bill. -
Incorrect.

Please rectify the tweet then...

Here’s Merkley backing Single Payer in 2009.
The primary difference - People believe he’ll fight for it.
-
Whose bill did he cosponsor? Did he express support or introduce a bill?
-
If your arguement is that Kamala is a disingenuous opportunist, you’re preaching to the choir. You like Bernie, but he’s too old - we get it. Fact is, if Kamala wanted CA to have single payer it’d take ONE phone call. She doesn’t want progress, she wants to look progressive.

-
Voted for Bernie.

It would add trillions to the National Debt and be full of mismanagement, corruption and fraud. In other words a typical
#Democrat program... -
National Debt? What effect did those tax cuts have on the “national debt”?

The national debt isn't a problem (we can't default and there's very little inflation), but if you think it is you should at least be consistent in your arguments.

I think some folks actually do believe that “family checkbook” analogy & it blows my mind. At least think of it like a business - It functions in perpetuity & requires capital to produce a quality product.
-
I can't blame really them, I used to think to think that way, too. Powerful people have been pushing that narrative for a long time and no one in the mainstream has really pushed back.
-
Fair point - I just can’t understand why folks (many that claim to care on Sundays) wouldn’t care about keeping Americans alive. But that’s true... Not many corporate interests defending basic humanity.
-
There are probably a lot of reasons, but at the root of it I feel it's a matter of trust. We're all pitted against each other and no one believes that anyone is looking out for their interests besides whatever group they belong to. Why it's important to build relationships w/all
