Unfortunately this IS our country - half of it anyway. It always has been. Well keep fighting for change though, because Constitutional promises of liberty & equality demand it

Yeah it's hard to say how the non-voting half of the country stacks out. Some of those folks are Trumpers too though. However many it is, it's too many.

I think this is who we are.

Not me or mine. IDGAF what a person looks like, or what God they pray to, or what they do consensually in their bedroom. I won't mess with anyone who isn't messing with me.

..and that's what normal people believe. The point is that we have to face the facts that we also have millions of people in our country who are totally supportive of Trump and all his racism.

I agree on one hand, however this is the president that this country put in office and he campaigned on this very platform of anti-muslim hate, so it is very much who we are as a country but it's not who we should be, only by accepting where we failed can we get better.

We have definitely failed as a country.

the good thing is, we can always fix things and i feel like by hitting rock botton a lot of people have woken up and we'll be better for it

This is a big moment in history. I too have faith that we will come out stronger. The human spirit is indestructable.

Instead of tweets, Congress ought to censure the President for emboldening bigotry and hatred while inciting violence against an entire religion.

Senator, I urge you and the rest of the Senate to censure the President for this. I don't want my tax dollars used for hate speech. I honor my Muslim American countrymen. Please ask the President if he disagrees with me on that, and why he was trying to inflame anti Muslim hate.

Well stated.
