Teach our babies to love people for who they are. This is great. Kudos, California!!

I'm speechless. As a gay man I could never imagine this happening in my lifetime. 50 years ago when I was in elementary school we didn't even have black history.

Indoctrination
-
learning history about straight people didn’t make me straight. Weird.
-
Kindergarten is too young. At that age, they don’t know what sex or even a gender is. Putting this in their heads at that age is indoctrination
-
i missed the part of the article that detailed teaching 5 year olds about gender & sex. Stop the hysterics.

If my Son was young now and went to California schools, he may grow up as Tinkerbell instead of a US Marine. Parents today really need to pay attention!

Meanwhile, CA's 8th-graders test just above Alabama & Mississippi on the NAEP science test. It's all about priorities. https://www.nationsreportcard.gov/profiles/stateprofile?chort=2&sub=SCI&sj=AL&sfj=NP&st=MN&year=2015R3 …pic.twitter.com/vFBWKYb8St

Parents really need to pull their kids from California’s public school system.

Stop indoctrinating our kids, Stop preaching your ideologies to our kids. Im all for equal rights but certainly not for extra rights and indoctrination of children by the state. May God help us in CA
-
so learning about all people is extra, not equal? Straight history didn’t make me straight. The kids are safe.

-
Is there also a history of heterosexuality? Maybe that's covered in biology class?
-
yes. It’s called history.
-
So, in this class called "history" the purpose or origin of heterosexuality is covered? I guess I missed that one. From what I remember, a persons sexual orientation wasn't ever mentioned. Like, Abraham Lincoln, a heterosexual, freed the slaves.....right.....
-
white & hetro were the defaults when i went to school.

I’m one sad that by time our children are 10 they know as much or more about sex the their own parents. As disabled Clinician just breaks heart children can’t be children
-
We're talking about history here, not sex education. Why would you automatically equate LGBT individuals with sex? When we talk about Abraham Lincoln or MLK, we're not talking about their sex lives. Do you really think teachers will be referring to LGBT leaders' sex lives? SMH
