There already is a federal hate crime for murder. Not sure how the feds would have jurisdiction for a "lynching" since it may or may not be racially motivated.
-
Race is actually part of the connotative meaning.
-
Obviously historically it has been used in a racist fashion, but lynching is simply extrajudicial hanging, like in the old West. I don't see how a law like that passes Constitutional muster unless it specifically mentions race or some other protected class. Plus why have it...
-
...when we already have federal hate crime laws? What does it add? I think it's typical grandstanding by Harris.

We can just differ.

I still like the idea I proposed earlier of an optics-based, engineered, holographic sign to replace this one for Mr. Till so that no one could ever destroy it again. We need some bright, engineers or science majors out there to design something to outwit the nitwits!

-
Can we get a sign that fires back?
-
Wouldn’t that be funny to see their reactions!! Ha!

Be like the scene in Crocodile Dundee where the deer shoot back.

Good. What happened to that child is one of the darkest stories in American history.

Well, murder is a crime. Assault is a crime. Violating a person's civil rights is a crime. I really can't think of any possible lynching that isn't already covered by those.
-
I concur. However, with lynching there's the implied mob mentality. Idk if everyone could be charged with murder for urging someone else to hang someone.
-
That's what conspiracy and accessory are for.

She's talking to people who give a shit about racism, as opposed to conservatives who "aren't racist" but perfectly willing to let racism continue.
