The majority of minimum wage workers in America are women.
I hope at some point you will join with @SenGillibrand to address this.
I wrote about it here:https://www.damemagazine.com/2018/04/12/women-are-the-working-class/ …

Why don’t they stop working minimum wage jobs then. They are no more trapped than a minimum wage man. Am I wrong?
-
Yes, you are wrong. You might want to read my investigative piece to see how and why.
-
Definitely wrong. Wilmington ranks 40th in rent increases http://www.starnewsonline.com/news/20180626/wilmington-ranks-40th-in-rent-increases …pic.twitter.com/JJvn5ksjWE

Free rent? Free college tuition? Free healthcare? Sounds like Venezuela! Kamala for President of Venezuela.
-
My sis married an Aussie. They are happy with having all of those not-free free things, make plenty of money, and get tons of vacation and parental leave standard with citizenship too! It seems to be working out well for Scandinavians also. Why did you cherry-pick Venezuela?
-
It might be because their country is in chaos. Many of the mlb players from Venezuela were very concerned for there families. Socialism was their form of government and it failed miserably
-
We have always employed multiple governing concepts in our governmental structure INCLUDING some elements of socialism, that's what makes our system work so well. The 16th Amendment of the Constitution codified socialism into the fabric of our democracy thru taxation.

And the constitution says the AMERICAN PRESIDENT has the right to determine who enters our country. And that includes Illegal immigration
-
Why are you changing the subject?

No, let's don't do that. That would be subsidizing corporations by enabling them to continue to exploit workers by paying low wages. Instead, raise the minimum wage!!!!!!!!

Please keep talking about things like income inequality Sen.Harris, this is an issue that all democrats can champion! It is what will be very high up on priority for next POTUS. ;-)

I saved my old boss nearly $1000 a day, and another time saved him $40,000 a year. Asked for a raise of a buck an hour. Was told no. That is the mindset of many businesses in this country. Sucks. I could go on and on and on....

A major cause of rent/land increase is US oligarch's "banking" their fortunes in real estate holdings. The $1.5 trillion tax gift to them will accelerate housing costs

Thank you! We need a new, bold approach, not the same old band-aides.

For comparison: When I was 18 working a 40-hour a week minimum wage job, my take home pay was $50.02 a week - my 1/2 of rent on a 2-br apartment shared with my friend was $45. $45 for the whole month. And my California community college tuition? zero. Laws and policy matter.
-
Same here. My half of the rent on 2 bdrm apt was $50. LACC enrollment was free. Cal State enrollment was $50. I paid for my books only. I made $250 -$350 monthly. I thank God for California state college system
-
That's why they are bankrupt
-
Um. California has the 7th largest economy in the world, and has a budget surplus. You're thinking of Republican run states that are currently bankrupt and having massive money issues. Like Kansas.
