John McCain. Putin is the head of Russia. You may have decided that Russia is your enemy, and therefore Putin is your enemy. That is YOUR choice, not his. Assad decided (by obligation) to fight terrorists in his country. Putin decided to help in that effort.

Regarding Russia meddling in US elections... sure... I am pretty sure they did their best to do so. After all, you (the US) have been meddling in Russia's elections in the past (probably to this day). "Do as we say, not as we do", may be your policy, but...
