It’s time to get the Comite Diversion Canal built! Too many people have watched their homes flood waiting for this canal, and now we finally have the funding to help with flood mitigation.

With the money lost from SNAP improper payments, we could get everyone in LA a new iPhone8 and still have almost $8million dollars left over. This is unacceptable. Requiring a photo ID for SNAP benefits is a common-sense approach to stopping this fraud.

Sad, terrible news about Baton Rouge Metro Councilman Buddy Amoroso. Buddy was a dedicated leader, businessman, husband, father and grandfather. The Baton Rouge community has suffered a tremendous loss.

In case you missed it, we passed a Farm Bill that contains my amendment to extend the National Flood Insurance Program for six months. This program was about to lapse in the middle of hurricane season. Now you don't need to worry every time it rains.

SNAP is the difference between an empty stomach and a warm meal for many Americans. Sadly, every year more than $1.2 billion of SNAP benefits are stolen or misused. I have offered an amendment to the Farm Bill to protect SNAP dollars by requiring a photo ID to use benefits.

Someone once said that life’s hard, but it’s harder when you act stupid. When the freedom of speech bleeds into threats or violence that is simply not acceptable. Peter Fonda, Maxine Waters and Robert De Niro’s way of voicing their opinion is ineffective and inappropriate.
