.@SenSanders unveiled a #MedicareForAll AKA #SinglePayer proposal several months back. The idea is to put almost all Americans onto a new government-run Medicare-like program—giving Americans #ZEROchoice in their #healthcare

Socialized medicine like
#MedicareForAll has a track record of challenge and failure.Show this thread -
A few weeks ago, the UK National Health Service (which has a
#MedicareForAll like system) had to cancel 50k surgeries because of overcrowding and claims that patients were being treated in “third world conditions”http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/socialized-medicine-update-britain-cancels-50000-surgeries-as-nhs-hospitals-face-winter-crisis/article/2644827 …Show this thread -

Remember when President Obama promised that if people liked their insurance they could keep their insurance? Millions of Americans found out that wasn’t true, let’s not dupe the American people again.

@SenJohnBarrasso When are you going to hold town hall meetings in Wyoming with your constituents? -
I remember August 2009, when you,
@SenatorEnzi and Rep Lummis came to Gillette College to disparage President Obama’s#ACA. The condescension toward anyone who disagreed with you was palpable. Perhaps@TraunerforWY will come see us with a better approach. -
Leah - I will be holding town hall meetings all over the state, including Gillette, starting next month. We will put out our public schedule soon, stay tuned.
-
Thank you sir!

If his plan is anything like other developed nations people would still be able to buy private insurance. It’s the people that already have no choice- to be uninsured- that would benefit
-
Also, how many options do you think your constituents have? Plans like this are especially helpful to rural Americans because we tend to have fewer options.
-
Omly bc ACA and region-locked networks have choked out the benefits of a free market system which would lower prices and improve choice/quality if given a chance.
-
Even before the ACA there were no options and they weren’t affordable. The only one I can remember in WY was bcbs and if iirc they’re one of
@SenJohnBarrasso donors. -
Mainly because of "networks" and region locking. You'd have plenty of cheap, good quality choices if the market were truly free and open.
-
When/where has quality private insurance ever been cheap?
-
In the united states up until the 50s or 60s
-
So when actual healthcare was cheap? You can’t even compare that to today. Plus that’s when unions fought for employer covered healthcare (so not really about options). WY is a right to work state, no unions to save us.
